i have a 97 gran prix with a 3800 series 2 and the ac compressor will not engage. i assume it is the clutch and needs replaced because i put 134a in it and it still wont. is there any relays or switches i need to replace first? and if so where are they located?

How much R-134a did you put in it?

You over filled it. That's worse than if it had to little in it.

What dsmuts said. Refigerant needs to be in spec. You could have a bad clutch, but it won't work under or over pressurized. I'm not really sure, but with that much in the system you may need to have it completely vacuumed out now.

Please explain how you got 3 cans into the system if the compressor won't engage. More than likely the system has no pressure at all due to a massive leak and therefore the cans probably just expelled into the atmosphere. A sealed system will not take more than one can unless the compressor is running. You need to see how much pressure is actually in the system at this moment. It should be around 50 PSI when turned off, plus or minus maybe 10.
