XP cam has a better backhalf mph in the 1/4 than a VS cam. search under title on clubgp for "backhalf" by Ron Vogel. He posted a chart with backhalf times that various members posted in that thread. S1X actually had the largest gain on stock heads.

My vote is with TXslow...the S1X is a very mild cam...you women not being able to handle .520~ lift.

I have the S1X cam and love it! Great mpg and daily drive ability with great power. It sounds really nice too... My vote is for the S1X if you're torn between the XP and VS.
Of course everyone has their opinion can't go wrong with either IMO. Everyone tends to scream go big or don't cam at all and that's not always the case it's more about what you do and don't want and what type of conditions your vehicle is being used for. Second car..racekar..DD etc
I've always been torn between the XP and the S1X myself.
I say go with the XP, the XP is not difficult to DD what so ever. Many people DD the XP with ease.
Why not go with a cam with more potential?
This is what a VS cam 3.0 pulley and stage 2 intercooler did for my impala....

And i didnt even have a dyno tune...just an overkill 3.4 pulley shelf tune. And my IMPALA is heavier than the grand prixs so with my same mods youll be waay faster than me especially if your tuned for the cam.
I cant stop smiling, DAMN those 3800s are NICE...You pullin nice and you didnt even have a Dyno tune yet...This video is proof of all you need in a 3800, You could go RADICAL but again this is plenty right here...Have you asked OverKill to upgrade your PCM to a 3.0" pulley, I/C and VS cam???
No but I have thought about it but then I decided to just save up for a Dyno tune and get the full potential out of the cam.

Overkill claims their PCMs are just as good as any dyno tune bc their PCMs target the right and specific parameters/ratios that work best for our mods and motors. They say most dyno shops out there arent really equipped for our 3800 W-body cars(which is pretty true) So coming out of the dyno shop you may have the power but short of specific crucial parameters that you must have(over time) and OverKill claims that they can dial all that into a shelf Tuned PCM.
I have a ZZP PCM currently but I plan to get a Overkill PCM to see if that'll be a better fit...
