so out of curiosity, i was wondering what you're guys screen reads as far as MPG goes.

mine typically stays around 17, give or take a few 10th's of a gallon.

    Thats city...

i can get it up to 23 if i drive on the freeway for a few hours.

18.6 city 27.5 highway. The highway is an approximation from one 2 hour trip. I reset it when i got on the highway and looked when i got off. The City millage is quite constant for me, goes from 18.4-18.6.

u guys serious? my 3800 II supercharged (aka the GTP), gets an average of ~26mpg in the city! i dont drive much on the highway, but i bet that would be pretty darn good. in the city, if i really try, i can get like 28mpg, but thats rolling in neutral alot. even with my tires super low on air (as they are now) im getting ~24mpg city, but they are really low. this is accurate, i have tested

Also keep in mind your "city" may be different then ours. I live in a slightly mountainous region when i was getting 18.6. I go to school in Albany NY which is quite flat and i get around 19.8. I guess it depends on the vehicle mods and the area you are driving in. Also you have to make sue your reading is correct. Reset it when you are going to drive in the city for a while. When you notice it going back and forth between two readings then that's the most accurate. For example I wait till the lowest the gauge goes, when it goes one tenth of a gallon up from the lowest reading then i have found my average.

My DIC reads 27.8mpg right now. And that is very correct.

But remember, don't trust what your DIC says. I have adjusted mine, and checked it again and again by hand. It is accurate as an average. But most are waaay off. The only way to be sure what mileage your are getting is to check it by hand.

With that said, I drive a lot of back country roads, and some city. Not much highway. So that is my average. On the last road trip, with the trunk loaded, I got 32.7 mpg figured by hand.

Interstate driving I usually get 32 to 34 mpg during a given work week.
If I drive in town one day it drops but nothing ever below 30.5.
However I drive with mpg in the back of my mind, nothing over 2000rpms in fourth gear ever, coasting down hills, drafting behind trucks, etc. You have to have the understanding and more importantly the patience with this. Treat the accelerator as if there is an egg under it if you want the most mpg out of your car.

Currently after filling up Monday morning, driving 60 miles round trip to work and back, and with a day of city driving my car reads 32.8 mpg. I do the math and my reader is almost right on, usually it is lower than what my car actually gets.

    Happy motering

that seriously thinks my car isn't running at its highest performance, Then again i dont reset it TOO often, but mine has NEVER EVER read 30.

last time i put gas in, 4.5 gallons i got a little over 110 miles. averged 24.5 ALL city. swear i cought every red light possible! also raced a caddy

just get fuel consumption in mind when driving. many people pass me taking off but i usally catch up to them later on down the road. it doesent take much throttle to get the car moving, its just a little slow getting up there also my DIC says im getting 35-40 mpg at 80mph sometimes. flat land tho, up hills it goes down to about 20.

    JUST STAY OFF THE THROTTLE!!!

I don't even bother with the DIC. Hand calculation I get 22-24MPG city and about 31-33MPG highway.

Best I've done is 23.11mpg (this was probably 90%+ highway, four passengers and AC on high 95% of the time.

Worst so far is 18.80mgp (not sure what the city/hwy ratio was).

These are estimations based on calculations using trip/amount of gas to top off.

Something that I found kinda interesting was that while I'm averaging between the high 18s and low 19s on regular fuel, on the one tank of midgrade I burned I got 21.40 mpg. I've yet to try it again, so it may be a fluke - it was my first tank (the dealer filled it up before I left the lot, as a courtesy).

I just filled up again this morning with regular and am going to attempt an alternator rewire in the next couple of days - but after I have some numbers on that, I may see what a different grade of fuel does for me.

Best I got on the stock tune was from Oklahoma City to Memphis, TN. Somewhat hilly, AC on, 450+lbs of stuff, and about 33MPG.

Is there a tuning guide for fuel economy, I wonder?
I've seen chips on ebay and such that make really silly claims about increased efficiency, and I know there's a number of retailers that sell them... Has anyone around here tuned for MPGs?

(sorry for the veering off subject)

ive heard one good thing was to increse the crap out of the timing in the crusing cells. like 40 plus or something rediculas like that. many people that are well moded and do there own tunning can get pretty damn good gas milage. like 30 plus. i aint joined the tunner guys yet tho :/
