and i wish they were tested, but there is no yards around me that i know of that pull them for you, or have any testing done. although occasionally, the windshield will say low mileage, or good engine/trans. but not always though.

And I do look at body damage, but u never know if there was problems with it b4 an accident. I guess I'll just do what I can by eye, but no matter what, without starting it, I guess there's always a chance it will require some big work lol

Looking at the exterior of an engine for rust or dirt unfortunately has nothing to do with how they run. Almost every 3800 car I have bought needed gaskets etc, and therefore was a filthy mess externally.

Plugs are no way to tell if a motor is low mileage. Anyone that went to a dealership or bought OEM parts will have the same plugs with better gap. Wires aren't even a good indicator, due to how long the orignals last if you don't change plugs constantly.

If a yard tests the motor to run, that means they put a battery to it, it fired up for a moment or two and they turned it off. Been there, seen it, they don't have time to haggle, stand around wait for them to get up to temp etc.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

The yards around me have a 30 day warranty. I bought a trans for my caravan and put it in the next day and beat the **** out of it for 30 days and it still is holding fine 2 years later surprisingly because it's a chrysler fwd.

well, the cars do say the mileage inside on the odometers, unless an engine swap was done.

We have "BARELY USED AUTOPARTS" here and they have always been good at supplying engines and transmissions to me, never hade a problem witht the parts. They do test
and give warranty on the parts, any BARELY USED in your area?
