i disagree with installing a cam or rockers equal improved mpg. yes they allow more air, but with this comes more fuel. flow mods that do increase mpg are fixing flow restrictions. like headers, air intake, TB, porting of tb, LIM, heads. these allow the car to breath easier. cam and rockers cause the car to breath more... the only explanation i can think that would justify that a cam or rockers make better mpg is that they improve the usable power range. or that without proper fueling you are now getting more air at a lower rpm/tp% and the car is now leaner.
if mpg is a concern, then your first major mods should be a wide band and tuner. you can aim for a safe conservative AF and then plan other mods from there.
What's a factory GTP rated at on the highway?
Also...
Ported heads and headers help a ton on the MPG side...FLOW FLOW FLOW.
I saw 29 MPG AVERAGE on the way to the Iowa meet last year.
Lean burn cruise tuning anyone?
Exactly.
440+ miles to a tank FTW.
Okay so I'm planning to get headers, and top swap. But while I'm top swapping I kind of wanna drop in a cam while I have everything off, which can would provide the most power while also not causing severe unreliability
VS, XP, S1X...all solid cams
Anything past 200 WHP can make it very easy to nuke a stock trans.
VS is going to be the nicest to the valvetrain, lasting the longest.
than what?
They're all the same.
HD trans has a stronger differential. thats about it.
it has a better gear ratio
