Okay I bought a solid upper intake manifold to replace my plastic one. The only question is which gasket do I get? Is it the l36 gasket or what? Advanced auto has a plastic and a metal gasket available. I'm really not sure which gasket I'm supposed to get.

There is no metal UIM gasket for an L26.

an L32 UIM is a gen V M90.... which had a metal gasket.

The guy at advanced said the 2008 upper plenum gasket (which is metal) looks exactly the same as the one for my plastic plenum. What do? If they are indeed the same thing I would most likely think I should go with the metal gasket.

Did he show you the gaskets?

They're ever so slightly different, but it wont matter.

    Pick the cheaper one.

Are there any other modifications that need to be made when installing this upper plenum?

    Hence just deleting the EGR.

Makes life tons easier...just rip the stovepipe out of the LIM.

Any special way to delete the stove pipe and egr? Do headers need to come off? Any tools that would make life easier?

When the UIM is off, you just yank out the stovepipe with a set of pliers or vice grips...whatever you happen to have.

EGR...well, it's a 13mm (I think), under the throttle body...remove that bolt and slide that portion of the gold EGR tube out...then take a saw or grinder...and cut the end of the tube off so you can remove the bracket that bolted it to the LIM. Take that bracket and RTV a penny to the back of it and let it sit and seal...then bolt it back to the LIM...do the same for the rear manifold...its a small bolt, I think a tiny little thing, smaller than a 10mm...think 8 or 9...the car will set a SES for not having an EGR, but you can get a tuner to remove the code.

And no special tools, the bolt on the backside of the rear manifold is just in general a PITA...so you might need some PB Blaster and a 1/4" drive ratchet with a small three inch ish extension.

I'm trying to figure out what modifications need to be done to the upper intake manifold. But I'm not sure what exactly needs to be blocked off. I do know that I need to make a vacuum line entrance on the metal tube going towards the throttle body. A lot of the forums that I've looked on have outdated information and I'm not too sure what I should go by. I really need the help from the community on this one. I even asked Billboost and he wasn't really sure.

You didn't read everything did you? I'm getting mixed info on this. Can you guys paste any links you find cause my searches are just confusing me. And to clarify the only part I'm stuck on is what modifications need to be made to the solid upper intake, I know about the egr.

Sorry, but I didn't think that any modifications were mentioned about the UIM...just which gasket to use.
