Stock exhaust is very restrictive. Hence why when you start dropping pullies you HAVE to do something exhaust wise first.

manifolds blow dick in 3800's. thats the biggest issue and thats why people yell HEADERS all the time. now, for n/a, id still stick to a plog + dp. headers tend to take away some low-end. at least 04+ dont have the ubend to worry about.
2700 stall convertor. Get him off the line and get into second quick -if the tranny is'nt broke-. Nitous the heck out of it at 3500 RPM in third gear or he'll eventally catch up to you.
Find a local like me who's willing to help you swap in someone else's built motor for a weekend. You smoke him and swap back out the next weekend. Point proven...screwed with locals and had fun.
Look at this way your engine could be pumping out 250chp, but is bottle necked by the exhaust. The exhaust alone is going to reduce your power significantly before the power is even transferred to the transmission, and through the axles to the tires. With stock manifolds, you are greatly killing the flow and potential for the NAWS. Which is why quite a few people preach exhaust mods before anything else. Just my two cents.
A lot of people run the speed daddy headers on ebay. Cheap and they work. Might need to replace the flex as they are known to be weak, but still $200 bucks isn't bad.
of course flow mods will help you juice....the sole purpose of n20 is to cram more air into the cylinder (barney style) which means you have more air needing to get out. you needz headers...just like anyone else who mods at all lol
Doesn't really matter, they both get the job done. People have had ran both no major issues.
Take a gander at this thread.
