I know that I can replace my L36 engine with a newer L26 engine. What are the differences between the model years of L26 engines? Such as what is different on for example a 2004 and a 2007 or 2008?

I have a 1999 Gt and found a low mileage 2006 L26 for a good price. Would this just be changing the UIM, LIM, fuel rails, and throttle body?

You can swap the UIM, fuel rails, evap soleniod, tb and maybe the rear exhaust manifold.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

ok sorry i was a bit confused! lol
    there are a few differences

    different fuel system (04+is returnless)
LIM is metal instead of plastic
    they have electronic controlled throttle
    heads flow a little better

im sure there is more thats just off the top of my head
i believe you can do this swap, just takes a few modification

Will swictching the fuel rails and throttle body be enough. Or will there need to be additional mods?

haha glad its not just me!

and OP im not to familiar with this Bill might be able to add more than i, but i believe you need to keep the l36 fuel system when swap the motor out
so instead of swithing you keep the l36 throttle body and fuel rails

That's what I was thinking. The L26 block should be the same and then just switch everything else from the L36.

You can use the UIM if....you get a TB adapter.

Thanks guys. Guess I was just second guessing myself. The only thing I will do different than what I had planned was the UIM. Looks like I need to place an order with ZZPerfomance.

When you use the UIM, you can use the L26 evap. It's an easy swap. Just hook up the hose from the tank to the evap soleniod and then the electrical connector.

Sorry about spewing things out kinda randomly. Doing these too many times, you tend to leave out things that your hands did on their own w/o thinking about it. =0)
