how much from the wreckers for a series III UIM?(if anyone knows)
well got some good bad and good news, I cant upgrade to an L26 UIM, unless I find a L67 throttle body to go with it, and I'll need an adapter plate, gets expensive.....
Good news is Overkill told me he is Pretty sure the Series III version will work in my car, might just fit a touch loose inside the UIM. Series II HV3s need trimming to work in a Series III.
Thx man.
Ill update this thread after so if anyone else gets this issue hopefully they will find this thread and get their answer or someone can reply with the correct answer.
I'd return it, but that's just me. That way you don't have to worry about anything.
After lots of reading, looks like the hv3 should fit fine, if i had a series III motor and bought series II hv3 then trimming would be required.
txslow:I read my message from overkill wrong, he said would only be worth upgrading to a l26 UIM IF i get l26 TB with it(for more power), but said it gets expensive quickly. with adapter plate etc.
The L26 TB is fly by wire. Your car doesn't come equipped with that. Is that even possoble? I don't know why he would tell you that. Many have swapped over to a L26 UIM using their factory TB. Any gains from using a different TB would be minimal(less than 2hp) and you probably wouldn't notice a difference. L26 is a much better setup and they an found CHEAP like $50 used cheap. The adapter is $100 new or source one from classifieds for $50. So for a $100 you can have a better setup. Regardless, the HVIII will be a huge upgrade over stock.
^^That.
L26/L32 TB's will only work on '04+ cars.
And I don't know where you're getting the L67 TB bit, because I'm using a L36. RTV is a wonderous tool.
And yeah, I got my GenV adapter plate for $50 shipped. My UIM was free, but I'm sure you could score one from a local junkyard or ebay/CL for next to nothing...it's really nothing special. It will however move your intake setup a few inches closer to the fender as the Plenum itself is larger.
If this HV3 fits in my UIM, ill be happy as i have to start saving money till july 1, going back to school for my AZ licence and will be last mod for awhile. maybe save for turbo and tranny setup, or a 04 cobra lols.
You could buy an ls1 car and a blower for less than a termi?
Im up for anything, specially if it means smoking my brothers mustang in something thats not a ford lols. either way ill have to learn how to drive RWD, I learned how to drive off a manual so no problems their and driven alot of n/a mustangs all standard(86,92,2000,2005) but I wont say i can take a rwd 400hp+ car out on th tracks/roads and race it safely lols.
If you don't want to do a UIM swap, just trim the HV3 so it fits like TXSlow said.
It almost fits as it is, just needs a little lovin', WD40, and some trimmin'.
Sounds good, doesn't it?
Got it today, but raining all week and moving next Wednesday.. so probably wont be installing until I move...if I install this week I could see myself testing it out in city limits, and being a mod for 5k-6k rpms hp increase I better just wait tell i hit the good'ol country lols.
blue: overkill said series III hv3 into series II engine should fit with out issues,if it was vice versa then trimming would be needed.
Tx said the the hv3 will just need a lil trim, you also think it will take some fitting/trimming.
I got a E-COOKIE whoever is right! lols
Don't really know...I just know a HV3 for an L36 doesn't fit an L26.
Been there, had to trim it.
Going backwards...don't know.
