Hi all. I am experiencing a shuddering in the car at midway through 2nd gear on. It only happens when the engine is under power; if I let off the accelerator, it stops, and It gets worse if i accelerate. I replaced the spark plugs and wires today, but it still does it. Any Ideas?

    Thanks

No service engine light? Could be a misfire or clogged cat.

What is the cat? Is it or the fuel filter(I'm thinking NO) something someone with only tuneup capabilities can do?

Catalytic converter can get clogged over time, causing a bogging type issue. Fuel filter could be a problem, it is located near the brake lines by the fuel tank, I needed a shop to do it for me, it was so rusty ($80). Did you make sure the spark plugs you put in were gapped correctly? And I'm gonna get made fun of for this, but is the air filter good?

Yes, the plugs were pre-gapped. The car runs the same with the new ones on. yes, the air filter is good.

No, no flashing. It's on for an engine coolant problem, but no flashing.
could it be the mass air flow sensor?

Have it scanned again it might have another code in there with your low coolant temp code. Also change your thermostat.

What does low coolant temp have to do with anything?

he said he had a code for an engine coolant problem so i just figured it was the low coolant temp code.

OP- What brand/type of plugs did you install? Hopefully not Platinum as these cars do not like them, especially Bosch. Barring that, did you actually check the gap on the new plugs before you put them in? I never trust them to be "pre-gapped" as they could be totally off just from handling/packaging. Always double check them.

What year is your car and how many miles are on it? Did the coil packs have any corrosion on them when you changed wires? You could try cleaning the MAF and see what it does for you.

Yes, you can replace the fuel filter yourself. About $15 and maybe 1 hour of your time with basic tools. Depending on how many miles you have it would be wise to change it out. I typically change mine every 30K miles or so.

Cat replacement can be done yourself as well. They sell premade downpipe/cat combos. Worst case scenario you order the downpipe/cat and have it welded in at a shop.

I would still have the car scanned for codes as dsmuts stated. Even if the CEL is not on it may help point to the issue.
