Hi I have noticed since I bought my 2005 grand prix that when I accelerate and the gears shift that its not smooth, I can feel it a bit. I also noticed that when I put the car into drive or reverse the engine moves a bit. I took a video of me putting the car into drive and reverse and revving it in those gear with my foot on the brake. Can you please tell me if the movement when shifting into drive or reverse is excessive and if the movement when revving is excessive? Thanks

The engine will move some on stock mounts.

In your case its not "terrible" but its a little more than average in my opinion.

how many miles are on the car?

If its somehwhat high, the stock fluid filled mounts are most likey gone and causing the extra movment.

It's at 148500km which I think is about 98000 miles. I really don't want to replace them if I don't have to because monies tight with school and everything but I don't want to damage anything else in my car. Could the movement its making be the cause of my accleration not being smooth?

It wont really damage anything else at this point, but it can only get worse as the miles go on.

Mounts are around 40-50 bucks and you can do them yourself if your handy.

Another thing to look at too with feeling the shifts more is the tranny itself, maybe the fluid is ready for a change.

I had the trans fluid and filter changed about 1000km ago. It might have helped it a little but its barely noticeable. I notice when the gear shift while driving but its not like a big jerk or anything but its noticeable. I just want to make sure its nothing serious and hopefully I can fix whatever it is cheaply.

I also noticed a couple other things that are most likely unrelated. One is that whenever I start up my car and am backing out of my driveway I feel a grinding coming from the right front wheel. It only happens for a second and then I don't hear it again. It happens too if I start the car and put it into drive.

The other thing is when I brake I can feel clicks through the brake pedal and occasionally the gas pedal. Usually the clicks are more noticeable when I brake and turn. Sometime I can hear the clicks too but there barely noticeable. Any idea what it could be?
