i trust what your saying blue. im just not ready to drop in a trans yet, so there for im not topswapping unitl i have money for a new trans. i just think if you baby the trans and help it out with a shift kit, then it would be an adequete trans for a DD. no one said imma use it for a race trans.

dont hate me, but ive been researching the 4t60e, and have found this thread, just thought id share. yes, eventually the trans blew, but the guy drove it with a turbo for 60k miles, and probably put out way more hp then im trying to make. and he had the older 4t60e. so plz read this thread before you pick on me more lol.
    Spoke too soon! Upgrades? 4T60-E

and heres a short one about his rebuilt 4t60e

Hey guys hope this ends the bickering

This is what GM states they are the SAME FAMILY of trans not the same trans and the difference is The 4T65-E was introduced to replace the 4T60-E in 1997. The 4T65-E included a larger 258 mm torque converter for some models and many other changes to improve reliability. It is able to handle vehicles up to 6500 lb (2948 kg) GVWR with up to 280 ft·lbf (380 N·m) of torque. A number of final drive ratios are available, with many distinct models. Starting in mid year 2000 models, all 4T65-E models received an upgraded valve body. Starting in 2003 the internal electronics were changed, hardened 4th gear shaft, ratcheting springs for input and 3rd gear were added. The last application was the 2011 Chevrolet Impala as GM has transitioned to the 6T70 family transmissions for 2012.

Check with Ed Morad for conformation as well all know that guy knows his stuff

the only real way to settle the bickering is for me to topswap. if my trans fails with my normal Dail driving habits, i will own up to it and admit that everyone was right. if my trans is sufficent for my DD habits, i will let it be known. i already know its not gonna hold up for being a track car, but i beleive it will be suitable for my DD needs at around stockish HP of a gtp.
