Is this something I will have to worry about? I have a 2008 Grand Prix and have heard the 3.8l is known for needing new head gaskets down the road. My moms 96 Corsica needed them done a few years ago. So, I was wondering if this is a repair I can expect to run into down the road.

    ^This^

You will replace the LIM gaskets and coolant elbows at some point. You have to try really really hard to pop a HG in these motors.

I see cars all the time on craigslist that are listed as having a bad head gasket, but I know that all it really needs is the LIM gaskets changed. If I had the time I'd buy em and flip em, lol...

    corsica had the 3.1

Which was known for LIM's and head gaskets.

    3800's, not so much.

Like the guys have said. Yeah it's a gasket and a gasket can go. However you'll see me tell guys that they have more statistical probability of being struck by lightning while wearing womens panties than having a stock HG go on a stock or lightly modded 3800.

I like to add the humor.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
