Where is it, can it be cleaned, replaced. Bypassed. What gives. Thanks for any help ahead of time!

EVAP canister is what they mean. Unplug the EVAP silinoid and see if it gets worse. If not you may wanna get that replaced or delete it.
Also check the fuel rails connection as the o-rings in them can get old and fail, leaving a pool of fuel on the supercharger.
Charcoal canister? You drivin a GP or a train?...jus playin. I believe that it is located by or above the gas tank. But I'd check what 98gtp said. Its an easy inspection. Check the rails right here ↓

Agreed! These cars are famous for engine fires. I bought a 99 GTP a few months back in great shape and it had an engine fire right in that area. The car was totalled even though we put the fire out pretty quickly. The insurance company thinks it was a faulty repair on the valve cover gasket recall but the fuel rails look exactly where the fire burned a hole through the plastic super charger cover. It all worked out good though becuase we got a 2002 just like it in better shape with less miles![]()
With the piss poor drivetrain mounting, the whole thing is constantly moving back and forth. The nylon aka plastic like fuel lines do well, but over a lot of years, they seem to pop pinhole leaks.
Evap issues shouldn't be enough to smell fuel from. A leak of fuel on a warm engine though...that's why I say, start looking, sniffin and feeling around.
Gas smells aren't something to screw with. I hope you aren't driving it. When the chance of blowing up or catching fire are in play as they are with the gas smell...you aren't only talking about the car, you are talking about your life potentially.
I'm not one to blow stuff out of proportion w/o cause. Merely want to ensure you realize the potential of the situation could be bad.
