Well couple weeks ago, my low coolant light came on. I got to my destination, let it cool,. and checked it.. its full? Did that a couple trips when finally i got out and checked it again, and it was low. So, i added some antifreeze and let it ride.. after about 20 minutes, it was back on again. Same drill, got out, checked it, it was full. I figured it needed burping. So, I did that. Fill it, bubbles out, rev it, and it was full. After about 3 more times of the light, checking it, being full, I just ignored it. It dosent come on until I get to going somewhere and the motor gets hot.
Oil change time came this week, and when i took the fill neck off, there was white/green gummy crap all on it. Water in the oil is my first suspect. Oil came out, didnt look like there was any water in it when it first came out, so i left it draining. Finished up the oil change, and that was that. The low coolant thing happened again this week, so i checked it, topped it off when it needed it, and it never gave me problems.

This morning, i crank it, and noticed a lope in the exhaust, So when i opened the door, it sounded like grandma playing the spoons it was tappin so loud. So now i've got a skip, tapp, that gummy crap on the oil cap, and dosent look like theres much oil pumping in the top end.. 204k on it, I'm thinking its motor time..
    Thoughts?

Sounds like the LIM was leaking and not repaired in time and now it has spun a bearing.

    Is the oil still full?

oils full to the tippy top. no metal flakes,
Im thinking the LIM gasket has gone... but.. my uncle said (works at GM) that my grandparents 98 series II buick, did the same thing after an oil change..said they put a "PCV Kit" on it, and it stopped..... im thinking that the pcv is clogged and causing the oil not to flow into the top end correctly? causing pressure? hmmm..

So the 'kit' was nothing but just a valve, and it didn't help. The pcv was destroyed, but it still didn't help. I'm unfortunately leaning towards another 3800. Eh, we'll see.

Get a real oil pressure gauge on it and see what its at. Might tell you what you need to know.

Can you isolate where the tapping is coming from (ie- top end, bottom end, etc)? Might just be a collapsed or stuck lifter.

there isnt anyone in our area that i know of that can tune a top swap... u would prob be better off finding a L67 out of a junkyard and doin a swap.
