Hey everyone, I'ce got a 97 GP GT, For the most part the car runs fantastically, It needs simple things like struts, and mounts, and it does need a TCS comp. Here's my issues, I'm not exactly sure when this started, about the onlyk thing I've had to do to it since I've had was replace the almost completely clogged air filter ( almost hand in hand with some of these problems )... I've done oil changes in it... Anyways, here lately it's had a problem with what I call idle hunt, I think it's otherwise known as erratic idle, The car will bounce generally between 500-700 rapidly. Tap the gas and soemtimes it will go away for a second and come back, ROMP on it ( in neutral ), adn occasionally it will go away and not come back. It's doesn't do this ALL the time either, I drive the car 7 days a week generally between 1a-6a solidly. massive amounts of idle time in this too. Soemtimes it will do it sometimes it wont.

#2 Stalling, it's very rare, and generally only does it when the car is first started for the day and it's cold out. ( it's 2 above right now )... Again sometimes it will and sometimes it wont, sometimes it will do it when the car is warm too, starts and falls to 0, then starts right back up like nothing is ever wrong.

TODAY a problem occured which is making me post this. This car is my breadwinner, seriously, I have to have a car, and preferebly this one right now to pay the house payment. Car been running fine all morning, shut it off when backed up to a dock, car sat maybe 25-35 minutes, car started hit 1000 then shut down. upon turning over it would sputter occasionally, but just turn over, I rolled the car out of the dock, kept trying to turn it over, after about 5 minutes teh car finally decided it would start, and it ran what seemed to be great the rest of the morning so far.

All of these odd ball issues have one thing in common that tbh is pissing me off. I have no light, no dtc are being tripped! during erratic idle, or stalling, I get NO dtc's... I've only had this car trip a code 3 times since I've had it. 1 for a #6 misfire which it sounds like it does occasionaly on start but it's extremely rare, and only has set a code 1 time. The other two were multi misfire / multi cyl, well duh that's what freakin happens when the car is out of gas... so 2 of the 3 codes are this idiots fault, the third I'm not really worried about since it's occured only ONCE and has yet to reoccur since.

Car has 163k on it, and short of getting pretty loud when she get's romped on ( sounds like I've got a tranny mount going or gone, that is being looked at this week ), I was averaging 27-33 on the interstate, depending on wind traffic, and location. My wife on the way home from minneapolis few months ago pulled a 33. But yet when we came back from our last trip to minne I swear I couldn't get more then 22-24 and the car SEEMED to be running just as well as it was when it pulled the 33.

I'm at a loss here, any ideas wher I should start to point fingers?

Also, This is also rare, but does happen from time to time is the smell of RAW gas. like I've got a line dumping it somewhere, although this doesn't happen very often it happens more then it should, it will be strong enough I won't light a ciggerette around the car for fear of an exPLOSion. haha... yea.

I was thinking of resetting the ECM, and see what happened, I'd hate to start changing parts though when everything that I would normally be changing here according to the ECM is working just fine. Liek the o2 sensor...
