Ok so after finally fixing my ses problem which was a short caused by an o2 emulator. Didn't the guy before me put one on. Anyways I have k&n ram air, headers, high flow cat, magnaflow exhaust.
So after fixing that and erasing the code the car. Would start then die immediately , so I try again and give it gas while I do so. It's slowly getting worse over the week this ones out of my league.

I also forgot to mention that when the ses was on it would start up just fine so what would cause to have a lean start after fixing the main problem

I have an 04 that is doing the same thing...I think?. We just bought it for our daughter a couple of months ago. It has 78,000 miles on it. 98% of the time this thing is flawless. The other 2% when you go to start it it will fire then die. The light has not come on yet.

You guys are saying a vacuum line but wouldn't that cause a rough idle?

I'm thinking TPS. If you give it a little gas when it is doing this it will start and run fine. I really don't know if it has been tuned of or not but the 1 st owner had records of OLF every 3000 miles. So I'm thinking I'm going to replace plugs. I will also take some brake clean and search for a vac leak.

I am confident that with all the knowledge on here we can find this.

YOUR issue...most likely lies in the Electronic Throttle Body...take it off and clean it. That is a big issue with the '04+ cars...they get gunked up and that caused studders, rough and sometimes not running at all idle.

Yes..........I agree on the Throttle Body needs cleaning ! Mine did the same thing, and I cleaned it and it runs great. You can purchase Throttle Body Cleaner at the auto store. Web sites on Google that explains how to clean Throttle Body. Takes only 10 minutes. Very easy too!

    Good Luck!

There really is nothing to it...unplug the TB, remove the 3 or 4 bolts...whatever it is...remove the rubber adapter from the TB to the MAF sensor...remove it...just spray it out with brake clean...it'll take care of all of that crap fast...and if that doesn't work. 2000 grit sandpaper FTMFW.

OK been awhile since i replied. the issue is still there, just have not wanted to bother with it. It has not gotten any worse just stays the same. It can sit over night and i can start it right up just fine but lets say i got to the store and come back out, then i have to give it gas so that it stays on. It idles at 800 rpm once started, and does not move. On a start where it sits over night, it starts but revs up to 1600 a couple times then settles at 800rpm.
NO codes, i have a new MAF, IAC and i have cleaned the throttle body. No fuses are blown. it does have an o2 emulator. I'm leaning towards either CPS or fuel pressure regulator just cant figure out which one. I don't think vacuum leak because it has not gotten worse.

Ok, so this is more of a hot-start issue then since you say it fires up fine in the am when cold.

You need to get a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what its doing.

Check the tube going from the EGR to the LIM and see if its cracked. They like to split in the little accordian ribs and hide the leak. That would cause a nice leak there.

I am having this issue on my 2005 Grand Prix GT (NA). I am not too savvy around how to get this done however I can follow a tutorial very well. I am not sure if it is the TB or what, but I have not looked into it yet. Usually when sitting overnight it starts up fine (95% of the time). The main problem lies when I make a quick trip to the store and I try to start it back up. If I do not give it gas, then the car does not start.

It seems (from reading) that the TB should be the first place to look at. My vehicle has about 75,000 on it but I just had a tune up done. Anyone have links on cleaning the TB on the 2004+ grand prix GT?

    Thank you!

*EDIT* After doing some more searching I found a good write up for cleaning the TB and MAF. Here it is: http://www.gpona.com/forums/post66028.html#p66028
