I've got a wideband that I tune with, you just need to keep the stock rear O2 bung in.
And if you need ANY more gaskets and want them GM, hit me up, I work at a dealer, remember?
I'm almost home, staying in STL for the evening, and then I'll be back on Monday if you wanna meet up.
You're basically needing a whole upper gasket set, correct?
Heads, LIM, Valve Covers, o-rings, and then SC? I should be able to get it for quite a bit less than 200, but again, I'll have to wait until I can look it up at work. I'm thinking in the $160 range for it all. You'll have to get head studs somewhere like ZZP though, I can't get them for near the price they sell. Although I really have nothing against the stock TTY bolts honestly.
Brian's done a top swap before?![]()
Ok so i ordered my aeroforce, boost and oil press gauge, gauge pod, and all my gaskets yesterday. Today I ordered my speed daddy headers. What size clamps should i get and how many?
hey man i just finally got done doing a top swap on my car and as of now i have a successful top swap, speed daddy headers, 4" fenderwell intake, custom street tune, and a 3.4" pulley. with the right tune you'll be able to get a smaller pulley on there with no problems but make sure you get those headers on before you try to drop sizes!!!! and also i had fouled my spark plugs with ac delco 103's and i was told to go to platinum 104's and havent had any problem since!!!..enjoy it man...its a blast to finally have some boost!!...lol...oh and i did mine on an 03 Monte Carlo not a grand prix but basically the exact same minus body style!!
well when i first got everything hooked up just top swap wise with the standard 3.8 it was running horrible and it was slower than any car out there...it took like a minute just to get to 60 and i was throwin all sorts of codes...come to find out the pcm was all messed up originially and i had even sent it away to get a mail tune from 3800 performance but it was runnning like 19* of timing....i dont know if you guys know of a guy named tim who used to work for intense racing but he now works at a place in dayton ohio called TKO performance...he took it and made it so it was running right along with installing some headers and he said it would be safe to drop pulley size so i got a 3.5 inch pulley and he didnt have a hub that would fit it so he just put on a 3.4 pulley and did all the tuning afterwards...i'm thinking he said i'm running like 12-15 degrees of timing but dont mark my words!!!...it's quick...thats all i know...lol
15 isn't bad since thats 16* because your cam is one degree advanced, but less than that is bad.
And you really shouldnt have driven your car with a top swap without a proper tune.
oh yeah trust me i know...but 3800 performance programmed their "top swap" setup onto the PCM and it was supposed to be able to run right.......but it didnt...after i realized it was completely messed up and not running right, i took it to a shop and he got it in as soon as he could which was like a week later....it ran pretty good as long as you stayed out of the throttle...also when it wasnt running right, i was lucky enough to not have any engine knock...it was just a messed up situation!!! but its fixed now!! I got a race against a mustang fox body that runs a 13.5 on drag radials but we're doin it on the street...lol i've been told i should be able to take him but i guess we'll see!!
LOL no, you might run high 13's.
Headers? When are you doing the Top Swap?
ur prolly right...but as long as he sits there and spins i'm game with that!!..and besides thats a **** ton better than the like 15.4 i used to run before i did the swap!!!
