I'd start with water pump.ps pump, all gaskets, lifters, thats just a couple things. I guess it really depends on how far into the engine you want to go.

I'd give it a fresh set of rings and bearings, plus what Ibwrong said.

so actually put a new water pump and ps pump on there?
I basically just want it to be like new, so it'll last another 150K+ miles

Basically replace anything that can wear so any and all bearings or parts that wear like o-rings, main bearings, lifters, pushrods, valve springs, valve seals, water pump, P/S pump, idler pulleys, tensioners etc.

Depends what you are looking to spend
if your going to do a full rebuild your looking at around 2000 thats with machining all gaskets, new pistons, check crank shaft tru it up and polish as well as cam
new oil pump, new timing set, bearings, rings, head bolts, new lifters, Head work magna flux, valve job, check all rockers/rods

And thats with you doing all assembly most machine shops will build the bottom end though around here the charge 400 extra

then add on a new alt/power sterring/water pump

or you could find a low mileage short block have your heads checked/valve job and new wtr pmp/alt/pwr str all pulleys and tensioners
    for around 1200

98 gtp sedan forest green ,S1X intense cam,Intense pcm,Magnaflow exhaust, ubend delete,TEP trans 3.29's,3.4 smoothflow mps,Dyno'd 281hp and 371ft #'s of trq at the wheels
