Ok so here is the story. my buddy has a 91 Buick la sable with a 3800 in it and the last time I rode with him he pointed out a couple of things to me that he was having trouble with since he knew I have pretty much the same engine as him. the first is no big deal and I can help him fix that no problem since its just his low coolant level light but the other one is what I don't understand. his old pressure gauge moves around a lot. sometimes it sits were its supposed to but most of the time it just cranks way up and berries its self. what I'm wondering is if it is just a sensor going bad or what. I don't think he has anything mechanically going bad because it runs really well for how old it is. like I said its a 91 sable and I think it has around 150k on her. what do you guys think

sounds similar to my 1991 Olds Eighty-Eight, the oil pressure guage was always maxed out but never any problems with the engine. So I just let it be.

sounds like either the sensor or the wire that connects the gauge to the sensor check both, lol

its probably a bad sensor, mine maxed out when the sensor went bad. Just get an aftermarket oil psi gauge.

Try looking for it in the same spot ours are
