Not sure what you mean. I know very little about all the newer stuff. I usually have older vehicles.

The newer vehicles have a throttle body that is electronically controlled rather than by a mechanical linkage. But yours is a 2004 and Im not sure if that is the year they went to that system or if it was only on the supercharged engines.

Well unfortunately I am not terribly familiar with that system. But I would have to say, given the fact that you have to mash the gas and then crank it, that that system would be suspect. Its a fuel injected car so there is no need to mash the gas at all to get it to start.

I suppose there could be a fueling problem but I dont see how mashing the pedal would overcome that or change it enough to start the car.

i hear ya, it doesn't start if i just give a little throttle, but it will if i have it full throttle. I live in a small town so the mechanics here suck. I try to fix things myself but have no idea here.

it sounds like it could possibly be the switch on the gas pedal....

i would try turning the ignition off and watch the the flap and see what it does it should leave it partially open and this is incase the motor that operates the flap fails i would say that it might be sticking how many miles is on it?

i read some other posts and they were having the same problems. It hasn't been doing it lately but it did rain and snow about a week ago and all melted. Wonder if it had something to do with moisture messing something up?

im having the same problem with mine. If I drive it around for a bit and then go shopping or something the car wont start unless I tap the gas pedal and crank the engine.

Also my friend is having the same problem. Where trying to figure it out. Seems like alot of people have this problem but never saw anyone that has a solution

Could the car be running to rich? Cause WOT while cranking causes the computer to shorten the Injector Pulse widths and lean out the engine and if the engine has too much gas from running a little rich, it may take a leaner crank to start it up...Hope that made sense....
