Are there huge gains with buying a plog and not a pem or a zzp HVTB and not a ported TB with the mods I plain on getting (( 2.5 dp(magflo cat + U-bend delete), PEM -Rockers(ER's) + HV3, 180 T-stat, TB, Aftermarket PCM or Tune)) I dont know if I should spend a lot of money in purchasing new mods or if I can just buy, for an example a PEM on a classifed section for one-fourths the amount of money (ex. plog=$120, used PEM=$35) So basically all Im asking "is it worth it".
    Thanks,
    Bobby

The problem with PEMs is that the shared area for all the front cylinders is so small, and can't be ported. That's why the Plog was created.

The HVTB is a ported TB.

i would do my list for a gt like this:
    -Plog
    -2.5 Dp High Flow Cat
    -HV3
    -HVTb
    -Rockers
    -zzp 1.0pcm
    -180* T-Stat

or if you had the money just get a top swap. with all that your looking at $1050 when a top swap at zzp cost like 1500.

I can't ever get much of a straight reply regarding the HV3 and a ported TB. I don't intend to race my GP but to use it as my daily driver and more or less maintain the same speed. Plus, what I have read says the HV3 and ported TB only return gains at higher RPMs. Since I only have CAI now, and will be adding a Plog and new downpipe over the next few months, I want to know if it's really worth shelling out the money for that right now. My Impala is my performance car, so I don't need the speed out of the GP.

The HV3 is going to show the most improvement in higher RPMs. So, to really support that, you will want some good mods along with it. HVTB, Plog, 2.5" DP, and intake. Then, a PCM so that you can actually rev to the RPMs where it makes the most difference.

If I remember right, it added like 10 peak WHP, but at like 6k RPM it added 30WHP. I think the L36 usually peaks around 5200 RPM, so you would want the higher RPMs to make use of what else it's giving you. Pair all of that with some ER rockers and that thing would haul some ass that might make you wonder where the whine is.

Ok, that's given me a better idea. At this point, it's a backburner item. Despite having the UIM replaced and the ease that would be for dropping the HV3 in, it means also getting TB, PCM, rockers, etc. So that simple "$200" HV3 = another $800 in accessory mods. I'd just assume change the TB and rockers on my Imp.

With a 100 mile round trip commute currently, and 88K on an 8 year old car, I don't want to drop in several hundred into a car to upgrade its performance that will either die on me or get swapped for something else. It's possible in a few months my commute could drop to 30 miles round trip, and then I might go crazy on the Imp AND the GP. Still won't do a top swap or turbo though, as much fun as that would be.

If I were you, I'd go with a Plog, ZZP 2.5" DP, and some sort of intake. Good for the DD, and takes care of a possible cat issue.

Agreed. K&N CAI already on my GP, just ordered the DP today, and once I return my old cat and get my $50 credit, I'll be ordering the Plog!

HV3 is an upper intake insert from ZZP. HVTB is ZZP's ported throttle body.
