I have a 2001 Grand Prix that is developing a starting issue. I turn the key to crank and it will crank a while, then act like its starting and die. Crank again it will do the same thing, act like its starting then die. Usually on the thrid time it will fire off and run just fine. Twice with my wife driving the car, she said that it coughed and smoke came up from under the hood. Hasnt ever done that to me. The check engine light is on, I just dont have any place local to get the codes pulled. What do yall think it could be.
When I first got the car I had the Trac control light on and the tach would fall to zero. I relplaced the Crank Position sensor and have not had any other problems until now.
Any help would be appreciated.
