first off, before anyone says to search lol, i've been searching on the site for a while, found a couple things, but nothing concrete.

My DD is a 98 mustang gt, and I also have a 99 cobra in the garage, but I'm getting my parents 02 grand prix gt, completely stock with 85k miles, but the dealer says the valve cover gaskets are leaking and the "intake plenum leaking internally and externally" and was saying something about the coolant getting into the oil somehow??

the only way I know of is thru headgaskets, but i'm not that familiar with the grand prix's. is there a crossover on the lower intake manifold that would be able to cause them to mix or anything? I'm doing a compression test in the morning, and i'll put the results up in the morning

also are there any tips you guys have on doing this? or little tricks or problems that are normal that I should look for while doing this?

thanks guys, from what i've seen it looks like a great forum, and i'll be staying around if i can get the car fixed up finally.

Yes...Lower Intake gaskets. Get the ones from GM. Also, grab new coolant elbows and valve cover gaskets. There are coolant passages in the intake and the throttle body. If I were you since your yanking it all apart you might as well do everything...new plugs/wires/PCV/fuel filter...you know...basic full tune up.

I said GM ones. You don't want Felpro because they'll just crap out in another 10K.

Just for your reference the Part # is 89017825 for the gaskets he's talking about. Go to any pontiac or chevy dealer.

^^I realize a stock L36 is not as fast as the sticker implies, but this sticker has worked and it is still a hell of a lot of fun to drive considering it's a grocery sedan.

I believe yes to the rtv question.
These links may help you, especially the video.
