I just changed the battery in my 05 GP. Always started right up, now every time I go to start it the motor turns over about 15 times before firing. Didn't do anything but change the dead battery. When I bought it I matched CCA and everything, have no clue what could be causing it. ANY HELP? PLEASE

Did you arc a wire to anything or anything like that?

No, Everything went perfectly fine. Didn't arc a wire while taking them on or off. Didn't short anything while putting it back in. Didn't even have jumpers on it. Sat for the weekend went out to start and it was dead. Took my truck to work picked up a new battery on the way home from work and put it in.

Let it run for a while and drive it around. The pcm may need to relearn all the fueling and stuff. Drive it for a good 30 min and try starting it again. Also try just turning the key to on the off a few times to prime the fuel pump, you might have a fuel pump on the way out.

Thanks I'll try it out and let you know. I figured it could be a problem with the computer resetting, but only drove for about 15 min. I tried the fuel pump already. The thing that gets me is when I let off the key while it is turning over, it keeps going until it starts(just found this out). It could be a type of safe mode for the pcm for a couple of cycles.

A lot of new cars do that. They do it every time they start.

Finally got to drive the car for about an hour. Got back and let it sit for about 15 min. Went back out and it started perfectly fine. Thank you very much it was probably just the pcm getting it's new info.
