Check the fuel resistor. click on this and try it.

yes the car is a se with a 3.8
I dont want to sound like a dummy but what is a cps and is this a easy fix?
crank position sensor.
you need to take the front cover off the motor to get at it. there are a bunch of gaskets in between here and there, but its not too hard of a job.
I cleaned the Maf sensor cleaned a few other sensor's and put a new fuel filter on it and have no problems yet. I drove it around for a hour it ran great no issues and no ses light. Do crank sensor's work sometimes and then not other times or do they go out all at once?
I'd go with the crank sensor too. I've replaced more than one on 3.1 and 3.8 engines - maybe I'm just unlucky, but why I can't figure out what it is its usually the crank sensor. It's a fairly inexpensive part, and so long as you have jack stands and a decent socket set you can do the repair yourself in a few hours max.
happens to me on occasion too
