Ummm?? Or maybe the wide open throttle and Boom thing? But anyways. I already have MSD wires, MSD coil pack, XP Exhaust, K&N Drop in filter, Custom Tune, EGR Delete, TOG Headers, 3inch Downpipe. U bend-delete, an a manual Cutout for the moment. The guy who told me i could crack mid 13's easily with the swap an my current mods has a gtp runnin mid 12's on pump gas an street tires. I figured hed know his stuff an all since he had a quick gp.... Thats why im glad they have forums like this always good to hear a second opinion
wires, coils, cat back, drop in, tune all useless, tune isn't for now but when you go boosted, you'll need a new one.MSD wires, MSD coil pack, XP Exhaust, K&N Drop in filter, Custom Tune, EGR Delete, TOG Headers, 3inch Downpipe. U bend-delete,
EGR was fairly pointless.
headers mean you replace the downpipe so its a given and doesnt need to be mentioned.
same with the u bend and why would you bother with a cutout?
You don't need the flow and it'll sound like crap.
your msd ****s a waste. if you had headers you wouldnt need a dp or a ubend delete..................
12's on pump gas?
Never seen that before...
So, bashing aside, if an NA person does not wish to top swap for whatever reason, all the rocker, exhaust, ignition mods, tuning mods, and intake mods are basically a waste of time and money? If the answer is yes that is fine I would rather spend my money on my IROC and see larger gains if that is the case.
not so much of a waste, but dollar for dollar you wont see gains like youd want. getting a 14 second n/a GP isnt exactly horribly hard, but it does take a bunch of work.
Gotcha, Idid rear that changing the front manifold is recommended due to piston longevity, I am banking on 200K on the motor, I am at 52K. Should the front manifold be changed out for nothing else but preservation? And if I read this coorrect a PLOG on a NA car loses TQ right?
yeah, itll help keep free of knock in the stock form by helping flow. the same applies for a 3" downpipe on a GT. i wouldnt say that you will lose low end torque, but because of the flow characteristics the powerband is moved up higher. your overall power will increase, so you cant really say youll notice a loss in the low end. it would be more pronounced if you were to get headers, but even then i dont think its as big of a deal as everyone tries to make it.
Appreciate the reply. I may make that my first real bolt on mod then. I am gonna make my own CIA for the novelty of it as well. Other than that, I would say my Interstate battery has been the best mod thus far
welllllll since you brought it up, I am going from the inside out, very mild engine build coming this summer, I am not sure what heads I want yet. I like low end torque more than I do top end. I am considering Vortec's with the matching manifold of course. Runners and tb will be absolutely last if I have the cash sometime later due to minimum gains on volumetric efficiency. I don't want to go wild tuning a chip so i will not do anything requiring new injectors, expecially since I just changed them out for updated matched ones. Then I will move to the exhaust. Alot of folks don't like the Edelbrock Titechs but I had some on an 86 305 TPI with a 3" Hooker catback, it sounded great and I noticed a nice top end difference, not to mention I went from minimum shift flare to quit more after the swap (failed part dyno). Then I will get after the suspension, I already have a nice trans with kevlar, transgo stage 1 and vette servo's so I am good for now, and I digress, my bad, I am mainly an F-body guy. Had alot of them. The GT is my daddy car to get my son around. I would just like to make it a lil' better....
Thats going to be my next car... Sadly school and nice cars can't happen at the same time.
Headers + top swap wouldn't be terrible idea.
but if you wanted to be picky, HV3, ER rockers, PLOG, 3" DP and a CAI with a nice tune would add a nice little kick.
HV3: $200
ER Rockers: $300
Plog: $180
Catt'd 3" DP: $200
CAI: $50
Tune:$100
Total: $1030
Top swap hard parts: $500
Gaskets: $250
Headers: $200
Tune: $100
Total: $1050
Interesting how it all adds up.

The msd wires an coils i couldnt tell if they made a difference or not becuase i got a tune at the same time but i did notice a nice difference. When i start it up an my shifts. But the headers an downpipe install... BIG BIG difference car has a nice idle an louder when gas is applied. An when i step on it it moves much much better than before at slow rolls an high rolls. I would say im jus about neck an neck with stock gtp power now judging from when i drove my friends gtx my power is about equal. Motor mounts an fenderwell intake in this weekend so im sure ill give a gtp a run for its money then lol.
Yea the guy works for Milzy Motorsports if anyone heard of them b4?? But yeah he had all kinds of stuff. GEN V blower, Stage 3 Heads, Nrorthstar Throttle Body, TOG Headers, Cam, SLP Catback An a bunch of other mods. Those jus the mods i can remember off the top of my head..
