    So...for all you guys not wanting to top swap or can't afford it...I got bored today and hogged the crap out of a L36 LIM. Looks pretty sweet too. I guess I can start selling these if I get enough people interested. IMO, it would be a more beneficial gain if you have a HV3 installed...but it sure wouldn't hurt a car without one. Pics will be up soon. Won't be too expensive either. Figuring around $100 shipped plus your stocker. I'd love to get this thing on a dyno for some before and after gains but I don't have that kind of access.

    Specs on this puppy are...

    Stripped, Cleaned, Painted a color of your choice (within reason...I won't do House of Color Tangerine or something ). Intake is opened up appox. 5mm all around the upper portion and the runners are enlarged a few mm also. Runners have nipples/bumps removed for better flow/less restriction. Runners are also finished comparable to that of 200-ish grit sandpaper, since you want the intake side to be a bit rough...compared to the exhaust side which you want smooth. I will be starting on heads soon...not the bowls, just the intake/exhaust ports. I don't want to mess with the bowls...I've tried...just not good enough for that yet...as I'm a perfectionist and it didn't turn out quite the way I had hoped it would.

    But back to the Ported LIM. Figuring this is a little comparable too...

    Stock L36 to a Custom Ported LIM
    Stock LS1 IM to a FAST Setup

    I'm not sure on flow specs of the LS1/2/6 vs. the FAST setup as I know they see pretty good gains from it...so not THAT good. But, for sure better than stock. Let me know what you guys think.

    Just FYI that might throw some people off considering you used a greater than symbol. My original thought was "a stock l36 is greater than a custom ported LIM? not good advertising, Nick" but of course that makes no sense to anyone with half a brain.

    I meant it to be an arrow man...

    L36 intake -->

    LS1/2/6 -->

    the advertising is just fine...didn't graduate with a major in English.

    Chill out, dude. I'm not thread crapping, I was trying to help you out. It was a little typo that makes sense to you but may confuse some other people.

    Pics...

    Stock Runner...

    Top Comparison...

    Ported Runner...

    Of course it isn't finished...but that is what I've had time to get done. Going to be getting that intake side to about the equivalent of 200-ish grit sandpaper like I had previously mentioned.

    would this give even better gains with ported heads? Or if you has ported heads could the runners be opened up even larger for even better gains matched with a HV3 and a HVTB.

    Ported heads would blow this out of the water. Granted, your obviously going to see more with this matched with a HV3 and headwork, than without one. As for the TB...doesn't really make that much difference. A ported TB is about throttle response, not HP gains. Again, remember...bigger isn't ALWAYS better. You still don't want to just hog it out until you basically hit water...especially in the head.

    Plus, if you have never done your LIM gaskets, or are going to be buying a HV3 in the future...get one of these...that way you can put it in while your in there anyways.

    lol yup. Your not seeing big HP gains from a ported throttle body...more just the "feeling" because of the enhanced throttle response.

    you dont get better throttle response either if you have a well ported throttle body. itll just let that much more air in. the northstar is the crappiest throttle body setup in the world because of the linear blade movement. you barely touch the pedal and youre nearly in boost. i absolutely hated it. there was no more "responsiveness", but the blade opened faster. my car was faster with a ported stock throttle body over that 75mm piece of junk.

    Might not be enough time to change it out really. plus you'd want to make multiple runs to ensure its accurate.
