Is it true that the aluminum LIM gasket is available only for the L67 or L32 engine? Ive heard that the only LIM gasket available for the L36 is plastic.

If its only plastic I might as well not even bother replacing the LIM gasket, its just gonna leak again...

X2, the upper intake gaskets would be different.

    Yep, they're the same.
And dexcool is the worst thing you could ever put in your engine.

I just dont know how GM uses dexcool across the board, like all the ls engines, etc. but its only a problem with the 3.1, 3.4 and 3.8 engines that ive seen.

Ill keep using dexcool, but changing it out every year, instead of the recommended 5. People leave the dexcool in and never change it, then a leak in a gasket comes along, then it sludges the whole cooling system.

GM had bad head gaskets on the 3100's. People also mix the green and dex and it sludges and people blame the dex...

dexcool only sludges when it gets oxidized (air in the system).

FWIW I've seen Series ! motors that only came with green coolant with the same gasket issues. Same LIM pitting as well. The issue with the gasket is mostly a gasket design, this is why GM now offers aluminum gaskets for both the 3100 and 3800 motors.

As well the 5.3L in my pickup suffers from the same gasket issue. The truck guys don't blame Dex like the car folks do. They see it as a poor gasket design. Once you swap the gasket to aluminum, it's not an issue as long as you don't air up your cooling system too frequently
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yeah, some people do ok with it. I've seen people like you run it to 200K with no issues, and I've also seen it destroy engines. A friend of mine explained the whole thing to me REALLY well once, but I can't remember what he said lol.
