Hey i am wondering what i need to do to give my 2001 N/A Grand Prix Gt a deep exhasut tone. I am not looking for a "tuner" or "ricey" sound but a really nice dual sound any suggestions for mufflers and maye an idea on the cat converter i have heard of replacing it with a straight pipe does that help? Any Sugestions would be helpful thanks!

get a v8 car.
If you don't like the sound of a 3800, don't bother...

it wont ever really sound good. its best to keep it quiet unless you get a turbo.

A 3800 will always sound like a 80 year old smoker yelling. It just depends on if it sounds like a man or a woman.

Dynomax, borla, and slp make some good sounding muffs, you can start with that.

These exhaust can sound good, it's just hard to get a good setup together. But whatever you do, KEEP THE RESONATOR.

I have heard some nice systems on these cars does anyone know if glass packs would be a good idea?

All depends on your setup and what you're putting the glasspack on. I have a glasspack resonator with no rasp whatsoever, but I also still have mufflers and a cat to balance it out. I love the sound of my new setup.

I heard a xp car with slp headers w/ cat, and slp muffs, i thought it sounded pretty good. Imo cam'd cars sound way better.

yeah, at IDLE. no ones grand prix/regal/monte carlo/etc sounds good unless it has a turbo on it.

Eh, I don't know. I'd just rather have a lumpy sounding exhaust since I haven't heard many really good sounding exhaust tones from the 3800. But then again, I've just been going off videos which are hard to get a good idea from.
Plus, the stock exhaust doesn't sound bad

im a fan of the stock exhaust as well. i enjoy how its quiet when cruising and when you go WOT all you hear is blower whine. with headers and a high flow cat the stock catback doesnt sound bad either.
