Ok so I've been looking around and have determined changing my serpentine is pretty straight forward. But I'm finding nothing about how much to tighten the tensioner when I put it back on. I've never worked with it so I don't know how it works.

Does it just tighten to a specific point on it it's own or is there a torque level I have to tighten to?

    Thanks guys.

when you say "put it back on" I am assuming that you mean the belt. The tensioner has a built in level that it puts pressure on the belt with. You should just have to take the old belt off and put the new one on with no adjusting. You should not have to remove any other parts other than the belt to put a new belt on.

when you put the wrench on the nut you will move it back to take tension off of the belt to get it off. You will need it pulled back to get the belt on all the way and then just release it. It will go to the proper pre set tension level.

Thanks man that's exactly what I wanted to know. I ordered my belt off of RockAuto two days ago so just waiting for that now. Only 30 bucks total. It's awesome how much you can save doing things yourself.

Well I did it Removed and replaced the belt for the first time ever. Must say I'm pretty proud...even if it is a small item.

Hardest part was moving the tensioner. I had to run to the hardware store and buy a crescent wrench. My socket wrench just wasn't strong enough....and my large socket didn't have a 15 mm. Thanks for the help Liquifire.

Go to sears and buy a 200 piece craftsman set for like $200. Then buy one long ratchet. You will be set for a lot of things then.

no problem, that is what we are here for. Now you have somewhat of an idea for next time. Everything is much easier the second time around. Having the proper tools makes everything a lot easier too. With the money that you saved by doing it yourself you can slowly buy tools as you need them. Yes, a large ratchet and breaker style bar come in handy often... purchase them when you can.
