so ive been lookin at the HV3 intake insert by zzp... i was wondering if n e one has this or knows if i would be able to see the hp increases that it advertises...i want to stay N/A for 2 reasons 1. im in college and dnt have alotta money for huge mods like a S/C setup 2. i need good gas mileage for the trips between Pittsburgh and Wareen, Ohio...this would be a mod for down the road so i thought id start gatherin info now

    ZZ Performance

btw i would get this after a U-bend delete and a new downpipe
'04 Chevy Silverado LT 4x4 - intake, headers, full exhaust, zo6 cam, 799 heads, tune, leveled, 33's
'00 Grand Prix GTP DAYTONA 500 - L36 block, S1X, intercooled, GenV, N*, headers, full exhaust, coilovers, 5 speed swap, stage 3+ clutch

damn your lucky you dont need one, you get more flow and alot of people say it sounds alot deeper. idk im kind of a n00b but ive read like 1376541325415 exhaust posts and the general concencus is: no cat, keep the res or replace with glasspacks, dp u-bend are good for performance but dont affect sound much, and mufflers will greatly alter the final sound so its all choice. I think ive watched every gp exhaust vid on youtube lol and flowmasters sound best imo. magnaflow is too lazy. oh and the mufflers vs straight pipe debate will run FOREVER lol oh and headers affect sound but are expensive and we dont need em

when i was n/a the hv3 was one of the simplist modds that made the most hp. my car would die at 4500 rpm or so. with it on it really wakes the car up on the top end, now that i have a turbo it just works that much better!
headers/hv3/pcm are what i reccomend. those were the best ones. cam and heads make a bit more hp but for labor they suck. find one use on clubgp and save some money. they are worth it over a catback and cai any day.
99 Grand Prix old build- CAI, Custom exhaust, HV3, Stage 2 TB, custom tune, ported heads intense s1x cam, headers.
Nothing great Just a small T66 Turbo with a Hv3 On a stock tranny untill i finish the other one.

yes a cam, headers, and heads are not in my budget just lookin to get all the HP out of the engine that was taken away by restricted intake and exhaust designs along with a few other mods to make it run better...and have a little more of an edge on other cars ha

first off the HV3 is a good mod, not sure if it would net you the 30 HP you are expecting(that is almost as much as a SC) secondly getting rid of the cat doesn't make it raspy. If you get rid of the stock resonator it will make the exhaust raspy. thirdly the cat back does nothing(literally) for performance until you get into the 350 HP range. Any questions? You need to make these flow better so yes you will need a new air intake setup, and downpipe with u-bend delete to start and then the PLOG.... Get a tune though as this will wake up even a stock vehicle HP wise and gas mileage wise too.........fwiw

understand completly...i have and intake and if the cat isnt a flow or sound issue then im good...i plan on the downpipe and a U-bend delete then a tune...and if cash is there a plog after that

First off, dont believe the HP claims from anyones website selling that product. Secondly yes you may have a peak HP boost of 20+ HP at top end where the stock would fall off more. You will not gain 20HP or more across the board. Does this make sense to you. So you may not gain much until 4500-5000+ RPM's overall........fwiw

I havent seen a dyno chart, but it very well could be in the 20-30 range in the very upper r's......but I dont know what range or if your car even will go that high in the r's without a tune before shifting.........just stuff to consider. I believe this to be a good mod for the NA motors though........but if you dont have a good intake it wont matter because you wont be able to suck enough air for it to work properly and if you dont have the u bend delete done, you wont be able to get rid of all the air efficiently......it will back the system up.........I would do the CAI, the U bend delete and then the HV3 if it were me.......it is your car though.......
