Would it hurt anything to remove the front and rear exhaust manifold heat shield?
|
its there for a reason, why would you want to remove it? to save 2 pounds maybe?
To prevent oil buildup and possible fire. I am planning on canging my valve cover gaskets this weekend as well. Why are the shields there? Besides collecting oil sludge.![]()
Ok. Ill make sure they are clean, then put them back on. Thanks.
to keep heat off the spark plug wires and the engine bay. just clean them until you change your gaskets.
You can also get some coated and ported manifolds...they are way cooler than stock temp. wise and flow a lot better...and you won't need the covers...I took mine off when I got my car but that was just me...
you can ceramic coat anything as far as exhaust yourself and save money
those heat shields are garbage, i tossed mine when i did my top swap, makes changing plugs that much easier. My ceramic coating on my plog burnt off and now has surface rust, waste of $$ imo
Well they didnt do it properly or they didnt ceramic coat, just high temp painted it. A proper ceramic coating job will not burn off.
oh definitely, any paint or coating job would be way better from a shop, i was just saying zzp didn't do such a great job
Does ZZP ever do a good job except ship their crap out really fast?
