So this is my first time changing the oil on my Grand Prix, it's also the first time changing it on a transverse engine. What I believe to be the oil drain plug is on the side of the pan which I've not seen before. Also I can't seem to get the darn thing loose. My question is if the Oil pan drain plug should be on the side of the pan. (Note: I'm asuming I have the right pan because it's the only one with any kind of drain plug in it.) Or is the plug obscured by the oil filter (which would be odd.) Any help would be appreciated, I have had it changed before at a oil change place this last winter and I don't know if they put it on over tight or what. Also the space between the plug and another what looks like pan but has no plugs at all is so small I can't fit a socket wrench between it and have to use a 13mm wrence.

Sorry for the wordy post and thanks for any help anyone can be.

It's on the "side" of the pan (closer to the rear of the car) so that you can lift the front of the car and have all the oil drain out better.

I thought it used a 15mm wrench, but maybe it changed in later years. The other pan you're talking about is the tranny pan. Just put another wrench on the first one and get some leverage on that thing. If it's ever been taken to an quick change place they always over torque drain plugs.

Thank you, That's the pan I thought was right and yes it did go to a quick place with me twice over the winter (as my garage at the time had no power.) And I bought it used so who knows how many times then. I will just go out there and try and muscle it off. Thanks again for your help.
