cam position sensor

im in the process of changing head gaskets on a 3800 series 2. ive been told not to bother or remove the cam position sensor. can anyone post a pic of this on and off the motor? and where its located on the motor? and if this is removed what has to be done to retime the motor?

It's either on the front cover or inside it. If you're doing head gaskets you won't even touch it.
