Hello, I am new to this site so bare with me as I am a rookie to the Grand Prix world. I bought a 2002 Grand Prix GT with the 3.8 motor. When I was driving it the belt tensioner pulley froze up and broke the belt. When it froze up the pulley got bent out of shape. When I tried to remove it the bolt broke and there I sat. So here goes the questions. The bolt is a left hand thread is it not? If I can't get the bolt to move what is my next move? I was told I will have to remove the whole belt tensioner assembly and that is the assembly that the heater hoses go into. My friend told me that if I take of the belt tensioner spring cap I should be able to find a bolt or a snap ring to remove and that would make it so I do not need to remove the whole assembley just the tensiner arm. When I took the cap of I did not see a bolt or snap ring just a flap black washer with a couple notches in it. Has anyone here had any experience in this issue? Thanks

If it does not work out for you let me know. I'll sell you a new pully,Tenisioner and entire bracket for 30 shipped. It's used. But I happen to have a spare.

Pretty sure that pulley's bolt is left hand thread. Otherwise it would loosen when you rotate it to release belt tension.

If a person were to replace the whole assembley would there be a problem with getting air in the coolant system? Should you drain the whole system first? Would that be done just by opening the valve on the bottom of the radiator?

You'd lose a lot of coolant doing it. Easy to do though.
