I plan to do plugs and wires in the next few weeks. Do the heat sheilds need to go back on if they are damaged and come off? Or, do they generally stay in place? I have a bent needle nose and a needle nose vise grips to pull on the boots. Thanks in advance.

Wow another post from the dead

I’ll bite just because I’m bored. My opinion on heat shields is use them, some people toss them because of aesthetic concerns. If you buy a quality set of wires theoretically you don’t need to worry about using the shields. Before you even ask, quality means a set labeled as “life time”. The heat shields do not “stay in place”, they slip right off after you take off the spark plug boot. And as far as breaking them, that won’t happen unless you take a hammer to them.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

Old posts back from the dead are a good thing. It means somebody is using the search button that so many complain isn't used enough.
