I have a 2002 GP with about 180k miles on it. Recently, the coolant light has been turning on despite there being plenty of coolant in the radiator and the engine running at normal temps (it has a new thermostat/temp gauge). I proceeded to change the coolant level sensor with a junkyard part, but the symptoms didn't change, so i'm assuming there's something else going on here. Has anyone hear of/seen this before? What's the next thing I should look for?

clean the sensor, or buy a new one. or just unplug it, the light goes out and you never see it again.

I've bought a new coolant level sensor and the light still showed up. So I just unplugged it and the light goes off don't waste your money on a new sensor.

Why does this happen? Is the harness going bad?

I'm not sure it happened to me after I put my new radiator in.

Like Scotty said dex sludge blocks the sensor hole and you can have a full radiator with the sensor sitting here n a pocket of air. Or sludge on the sensor itself.
