I changed my upper n lower intake gaskets last wweekend, and thanks to this site saved a ton and gained lots of knowledge. Maybe not enough cuz now I noticed tstat gasket is leaking. I did torque my lower intake to spec and in proper sequence but I couldn't find one for the upper. So I kinda just went with what I thought. I know it was stupid. So should I take it back off? Is there a way to tell if it leaking air. I noticed like a bright orange liquid, almost like butter like but orange. No clue were that came from. Thanks gang for keeping our $$ out of the dealers pocket!!

    What are torque specs?

I have never torqued down a intake manifold, ever. I just use my 1/4in impact and blap em down or run em snug with a wrench. You can watch fuel trims if you think you have a leak with a scanner. A long term fuel trim reading of +16.4 at idle is for sure a vacuum leak.

The thermostat housing is not part of the lower intake or the upper intake. If that is leaking just remove it and buy a new gasket to reseal it.

Thanks, thats a releif cuz I didn't want to take that apart again. It seems that my high idle takes longer than usual to drop. It does run hotter but my rad fluid isnt the greatest, I was hoping after the intake that my temp would drop as it stayed the life on my car. I do have two broken plug wires I jimmied back together that broke at the boot. Il purchase new ones soon but I dont see that affecting temp..?.
Was thinking of using the +3 sparkplugs when I replace my wires.

I have no idea what +3 spark plugs are, I'd only use the factory ac delco plugs on a stock motor.

If you didn't bleed the coolant correctly or you still have some air in the cooling system, the temp will be warmer than normal.

Doing a full coolant flush and switching over to green will help the most with the temps, and if youplan to stay n/a go with iridium plugs, they tend to last and you don't really need copper or platinum.

It really doesnt matter what coolant you pick, none run cooler or any different than the other.

Also you can't run platinum plugs in this style ignition system, the waste spark ignition will eat platinum plugs alive and cause misfires down the road.
