Repairing my muffler on a 2002 Gt. I will never re sell my car and I was told I can remove the resonator. The issue I am facing is that I have a hole in a section of pipe behind it which bolted to the rest of the remaining pipe. 6 inch attached pipe behind it. I was thinking of cutting it after the cat n put a straight pipe n new pipe to the end mufflers.
So with removing the resonator will it still pass emissions testing and will it be louder???

I live in Ontario Canada...as we have emissions testing every 2 yrs.

Any help would be great. Tks.

you will pass, it has nothing to do with emissions and it wont be louder, anyone who says so is a retard.

doesn't it just change the tone of the exhaust?

so it's superfluous. I'm gonna borrow a MIG from one of my coworkers and weld my own when the time comes... that's two whole welds I don't need anymore. lol

thank you. Will this affect the fuel economy? at all.

Also, are you sure regarding the loudness? I have talked to a few people and they are saying the same thing, that it will be louder??? like it has a hole in it.
I just don't want to do this and find out, it is louder, and I have to start over.

its a reso not a muffler, its 100% straight through.

If you can hear a pin drop from the otherside of the room maybe you will hear the difference.

    mpg will never be affected.

It is louder, in the cabin specially, and at higher rpms it rasps and pops like a ricer, I have videos of my car, 1st video is with headers, cat delete and resonator delete. The other video same setup with a glass pack for a resonator. I'll post it on the morning.

my setup is exactly that. as you can see in the vids its much louder.

first thing i did to my exhaust when it was 100% stock is remove the resonator(it was rotten), it was horrible(loud in cabin, rasp/poppin like a ricer) but I was to cheap to replace it
