What kind of gains could I expect after add down pipe, pcm cam and torque converter to my l26. And what other adds do you recommend for a goal of 400 to 500 hp

If you're n/a, you need a turbo or supercharger to get to those kind of numbers

Have you looked at any dyno charts from m90/cam/heads builds?

400 at the crank? Yes. E85, cam, tiny pulley, maybe intercooler. Very doable on a m90 setup. But turbo will make more and probably cost the same, maybe less.

trans fails at 300-350 hp. anything more you really need a 3 to 4000 dollar tranny built. lots of expensive hard parts are needed.

This is mostly true. But not driving like an idiot goes a long way. I've been around 300whp for over a year and only a shift kit in my stock trans and it's still doing great. I might be on borrowed time, but if you don't go WOT every shift you make, you can make the stock one last a bit with some general maintenance

^^^^^your driving habits will for sure dictate the tranns life span. im likely close to 300 crank hp on a stock tranny with just a shift kit myself, its holding fine with 150,000 on it.

its when you add a cam, or a turbo stuff starts to break. the flex plate and input shaft are the first victims. stock flex plates crack under stock HP.

Probably not too much of a difference between me and Scotty honestly. Cam adds maybe 20-30 hp over his rockers and his intercooler is the equal to my e85. I've dynoed mine a few times on this setup and a 3.0 and had as high as 307whp. I could probably add a catback exhaust (I'm still stock there) and go to a 2.8 and gain another 15 or 20 at the wheels. But as is its pretty quick.
