My car has been yelling at me for low oil level for 3 days, what do I do?

I was being sarcastic, as with most of us I think.
The feature is a good one, when working correctly they can save your ass if it indeed burns oil.
Other than making sure it's full, the sensor or the wires can be bad.
it is a rather useless feature, but it has its merits for those inclined to ignore things or some such....
on the old cars the oil level "dildo" had all the level electronics n **** in a clear tube. the new ones use the pcm software to do the same 'averaging"
its primarily looked at on cold starts, when oil is think and tends to hangout in the topend longer before it drains back down, when the sensor is triggered it will trigger the dic warning/oil level light. the sensor is always active /open and closing.
the old SI 3800 sensors are quite interesting, powered through the low oil level light, and grounding through the circuits averaged this measurement style internally to trigger a dumb light once its limit is reached it would latch the output to ground till power was removed.
....if the bulb burned out or the INST LMPS power fuse was blown the bugger wouldnt work.
im using an old style "dumb light" unit in my cressida to operate the toyota cluster light
It means it's time to grease the muffler bearing
put a quart of earl in the car, remove the "710" cap to do so
My reply was also sarcastic, just playing along. I actually let one of mine get that low once... oh no, wait... once when mine was wrecked, the just-borrowed S-10 had that light come on when I shifted to second. It was two quarts down and I didn't go two more blocks before filling it. Never had a 3800 leak like that myself.
I laugh at the Audi guys who complain about a quart every 5K miles being considered normal by Audi.. yet GM says one quart every 3K miles.
Certain Honda engines have issues with their piston rings, and in the SB they aren't covered by Honda for replacement unless the vehicle is using more than a quart o oil every 1K. The older Accords and CR-V's. I think we've had 5 vehicles through in the past month.
A quart every 3K or 5K is amazing in comparison.
