1994 GP SE w/3.1 @ 166k. Recent tune & gasket change. Developed a knocking sound that sounds high up in the engine. Car has lost power, but starts, runs, drives. Oil level is good. First thought was rod/bearing, but noise seems too high. Suggestions please?

3.1's tend to develop ticking noises when they are cold, the cylinders have a factory "out of round" they expand as they warm up and it will normally go away. That depends also the grade of your oil and the temperature. That might be your high knock, if its a clicking noise in your top end it may be a worn lifter which is not a hard fix. Try to isolate the noise with a long screwdriver and post again.
