Oh i hear you, and PNH converters i know are good converters I used them before. I've never went on a tour of their facility but everyone around here raves about them. I just think like everything, it can never be 100% failure free. Whether or not it has to do with abuse or what, I don't know, the converter only has 2000 miles on it, but it felt sloppy from day one, and its the only thing I regretted about my entire build.

Sooooo, it's spring time. Got an eta on getting it in yet?

I was planning on having built mine by now but we had a death in the family and had to close out an estate and clean out a house and my wife and I each missed a ton of work and it all lead to a financial disaster for me. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get around to ordering parts. But...in the mean time. When I do mine, I don't think I'll ever make enough power to warrant the input shaft or the single chain. I think I'll have a 3.6 mps on most of the time and a 3.4 for occasional use, with speed daddy's, FWI etc. Just a basic 3.4 set up at best. I wanna change the sprokets to 35/35 though.

If I follow pretty closely using this build as a blueprint, minus the chains and input shaft, is that a good idea? Is there other stuff in here that's overkill for my app?

And since the last page or two of this thread is about torque converters, has anyone ever used the FDQB torque converter? Will at overkill likes them, I was thinking I'd use that. I don't know crap about how to select a torque converter though.

    Thanks Brandon
I don't know what the hell I'm doin.

He (I) did. But I am keeping in touch with the buyer to get his feedback. AFAIK, it's in his car, waiting for the completion of a turbo setup. Once I hear back, I'll update.

Without going back through... not really. I think everything else just makes for a better shifting, longer lasting trans. You could probably run a stock input clutch pack, and back off the accumulator springs. Neither of those things are really costly though, so I guess, why wouldn't you?

As far as torque converters goes... I was just going to run a stock PNH unit. I'm probably not the best person to ask.

I am having the bang shift issue and delayed 3rd engagement with my tapshift. If I was still in PHX I would love for you to tear into it and see what you find...

So, a little update. Just checked in with the guy who bought this transmission. His response below. (Cleaned up some language, but otherwise verbatim)

(1/3) That tranny is .... absolutely fvcking impressive!!! I'm only running 9lbs right now because I'm waiting for my tune guy to dial everything in before I (2/3) turn it up. Driving normally the shifts are nice and barely noticeable. Medium throttle they are more pronounced. I've only 3\4 throttle'd it (waiting (3/3) for the tune for full throttle), and the shifts are instant and solid!!! It adapts to how I'm driving. No hard shifts under light load and I love it!!!

Nice! Guess I'll have to be up for a road trip if I ever need a trans built for my gp lol. Good shifts are must for me, almost better than making power lol.

I have his other trans in my car, 7/8, 300m, billet 3rd piston blah blah cars never driven so smooth. Put a more modified trans tune in shifts crisp and fast and very responsive. This guy isnt afraid of skip shifts or wot's anymore!

Thanks for the feedback! I think we both made out on that deal. You got a good price on a built trans. I got some cash and garage space back! Maybe this fall I'll rebuild the last core I have sitting here.
