Hi everyone I am new to this forums. Long story short my transmission gears decided that they needed to escape the housing blow a hole through the side of it.

So i need a transmission but my 03 GTP Supercharged has a L36 engine with a 4T65E tranny and i cant find one in any of the salvage yards and i am assuming they think i need the HD transmission. So to avoid confusion with the wreckers i just came across a 99 buick regal and a 01 impala. i just want to know if they would be direct bolt in's before i buy either one.

Side note: don't discuss blowing a "tranny" over the phone in a Hippy **** Coffee house while waiting for the tow truck. Phone call was priceless while the whole coffee shop was staring at me the whole time. Dumb idiots thought i gave a tranny a blow job.

lets start out with what your is and whats in it now? you say l36 and supercharge in the same sentence. l36 is a n/a engine gtp in 03 came with a l67. and a hd tranny.

you have a 03 any way i slice it and you'll want a tranny from a 01 to 03 iirc. the shiftier linkage changed. from external to internal.and some valve body changes from what ive read.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

Well, if the 2003 transmission is still in the car that was original to the 2003 GTP car, then only a 2003 transmission will be a direct swap.

But if you swapped in a older year motor/trans/computer then I'd grab the 99 regal transmisssion. Impala's sometimes got the goofy 3.05 gear ratio.

The only way to be 100% sure is to match the "Model Code."

Step 1, if you only "blew the gears out" I'm hearing you slaughtered the diff and diff cover. Easy enough to replace, pan drop to remove the debris and filter and poof, back on the road with your same trans.

I've done it and fixed it a few times.

Cut the filter open and all

Nice thing about our transmissions is the fluid from the diff is last in the path, therefore it heads back to the pan and filter.

If you are still planning on going forward with a trans swap to an 03, please keep in mind you either need to change your pcm (see Rivman posts on this) or you need to swap the electronics/valve body/channel plate to have it work properly. 03's are a one year mess.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
