So I posted before about my tranny losing power around 35mph when it's cold. After the transmission is warmed up, it'll drive just fine. Now I realised when it's cold, I can up shift with the tapshift and it'll drive just fine. I just put it back into drive once I'm ready to set my cruise control. Do I need a rebuild or can I get away with solenoids and a shift kit? People have said rebuild and others have said a shift kit and solenoids. Anyone help? 2004 comp g.

Since you wanted to make a new thread...and I'm lazy, I'm not going back and looking what was mentioned before.

How does a trans lose power?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

It will shift into 3rd and climb speed really really slow. Then, I can give it has and the rpms will go up but the car will still slowly climb speed. If I floor it, it will down shift and take off.

Even google translate couldn't explain this one.

Do you feel that the transmission is slipping (rpm go up and speed doesn't) or do you think that the engine isn't supplying power?

I would say the trans is slipping. But only on that 3rd gear and only when it's cold. After its warm, it doesn't slip.

Ok, that's easy. Your trans is screwed because your third gear clutches are likely worn out.

That part is up to you. Usually waving a magic wand over it, won't help.

Well, the other thing is, when I put it into tapshift, it'll shift just fine. No slipping or anything.

Look up Drunk13. He had the same issue. It was fixed with a fresh trans.

"Usually" it doesn't work... So you're saying there's a chance it could work? Haha! If anyone had a magic wand, it would be Bill.

Gonna try that!! I don't care if it doesn't fix it completely, but at least better than it is. I would really like to wait till spring for a rebuild. Funds are tight right now considering I just bought it!
