Started rebuilding my 4T65E-HD from a 97 GTP, has been quite a bit of fun! Found the culprit for metal slivers in the filter, which is a sigh of relief. So far, everything has checked out for visual inspection, minus one bearing (the culprit). No biggie, only a 7$ part.

I'm gonna be taking the trans to a place to get all of the exposed covers and the case steam cleaned so it's nice and shiny

Just had one question; this transmission is going into an 02 GT. From visual inspection, it looks like the trans in there has the same PNP switch that the 97 one does, so I don't think that will be an issue. What I am wondering though is will the torque converter bolt up to the flex plate on the L36 ok? I'll make all the modifications necessary while it's in pieces so it is easier.

Also, my understanding is the must-upgrade parts for these trannies that doesn't come in a TEP performance rebuild kit are the IS and gear/chains. Is there anything else I should consider upgrading? Can't afford a torsen (unfortunately lol).

Will post pics soon too for funsies.
