Thread: HELP..... Solenoid replacement

So i have a bad transmission pressure solenoid....since i am doing one i might as well make sure the other one is new. I can not figure out where they are hiding.... I know that sounds dumb but everything on the tranny does not look like the new ones. I have found a large wire plug on the top of the tranny next to the air box and another under the car near the passenger side. I cant figure out how to get the top plug off with out breaking it and the one under the car is hard to get to but i know i can once the car cools down and i stop burning my hands trying to get it out to figure out if it the correct one. any suggestions will help.

Yeah what im looking for is inside the side case.... how hard is this to do?

is the write up on this site? I have been searching all afternoon... Hard like i need to remove the tranny? It almost looks like if i remove the mount and a couple other thing i should be able to get the cover off. Does that sound right or do i need more room?

So my pops used to have the same car are you and that is what got me into the 3800sc motor! I will keep you updated on this one! I did get the hub replaced this week! I cant believe that it went out that quick and with very little warning..... I could feel the movement in the bearing once i had it out of the car.... I replace both front hubs maybe 4 years ago....

I have a bet going with a couple friends that my car can last me another 5 years! I bet a few friends that this car can last me another 5 years! If i can win (i will do anything in my power to win) i will get 4k if i an get them to pay up!!!

There is a write up with pics somewhere. I've done it a long ass time ago. It's kinda hard to do and IIRC the servo gasket can only be found at the dealer

Dude i think i need to start paying you for all the advise!!! Do you know if it is possible to remove the cover without pulling the tranny out, just to replace the solenoids? it really seems like if i remove the mount that it will give me the room?

bill likes to take things out for better pics. it does not need to be removed.

that harness also likes to break so be careful with it, and check it over for damage, its been the cause of the code the past, not the solenoids. (the one inside the side cover)

yea my connector is what was broken. total BS

Is it easy to tell if the connector or harness is broke? Im planning on doing this tomorrow but i will not have another car to get to the parts store till late in the day.... Do i need a new gasket or any other items to complete this job? My wife might be getting a new job soon and this will require me to drive my car (hers gets towed behind the truck) across the country.... the prix has put in her time in LA traffic for 90k miles and hope it can make the trip from the Ohio valley back to the west coast!
