Nope TCC is the same from 97+. PCM strategy would have been the only changes made to feel. The valve body differences are basically that there were two boost valves removed on the 00+ valve bodies for forward and reverse engagement and the interchange really and you cant even tell which is why the valves were eliminated as they decided they werent needed anymore since the pcm controls line pressure and also to cut some cost.

I noticed on my scans that the torque converter always engages in third gear. I checked all the shift times and they were all between .10 and .20, but were different everytime, which I guess is normal. I guess what I am asking is the torque converter supposed to engage in third gear? What about engagement time? I went with a brand new stock converter for the rebuild.
I guess I am just overconcerned about my recent rebuild. It feels really strong, the shifts even in regular mode feel really crisp, and in performance shift mode are especially nice. But I try to keep it in regular mode for the most part.

By engagement time, I am asking what is normal? I am assuming it varies with load. I am just trying to check every aspect. It is just my nature, I am very confident in the build. I helped the guy do it because he was doing it on the side, and he has been working on transmissions for over 20 years with alot of experience with the 4t65. It was a very good learning experience to see somebody that really knew what they were doing take it out, disassemble, reassemble, and put it back in. Plus I got to change the oil pan gasket while the frame was off. Now I just have to get the rear valve cover gasket changed and she will be leak free.
