Thread: Differential v/s Transaxle

He called today and they are going to rebuild the tranny $2000!! He told me that they said a lot more yesterday than the differential was bad, there were many items that may have been bad (including the torque convertor) and that a rebuild was the best route to go. Personally I believe that they are just fixing everything that they can to make sure that they hit the real problem. I advised him and asked the questions that I would have and he likes the car and wants to keep it (even though the book value is only $4000). This is his decision and his first lesson in life with expenses. I just hope that the garage isn't ripping him off and does the rebuild right, but they have been fair in the past.

Thanks for the advice all. I just wish that he was at home here, I have a garage that I have been using for over 15 years for major things and I would trust them 100%.
